Dear Participants,
Welcome to The Hague 2025, and thank you for joining us on this journey. For the officials it has already been months, and for some years, all leading up to this moment of you, the delegates, joining. The Officials all just met for the first time in The Hague, which made this whole event feel a lot more real, and writing this message to you now only solidifies that. I know it has been a turbulent time for some time now, with uncertainty looming and what we thought tomorrow would look like no longer promised. This lack of security and stability can be frightening, so I want to say: thank you, dear delegates. Thank you for still feeling like doing things like EYP is worthwhile, for working towards peace and fighting for justice, and for not giving up.
My hope for our time together is that we not only get to share and learn, but listen. Our session will bring together youth from all corners of Europe, coming with all different ideas of what is normal and what is right and wrong. Some might have more similar experiences to you than others, but I think everyone will be able to surprise you if you let them. Thus, I will ask a few things of you when you embark on this journey with us: be curious and interested, and remember to ask, rather than assume. Lastly, I hope we get to leave the event with clear memories of the small things, of laughter and the everyday, of feeling the now – and
remember to take time just take it all in. (Almost) Any situation can turn for the better, with the help of gentle and understanding people around us, and this is what I hope for us. I cannot wait to see what the next months have in store for us, and we will all meet soon in The Hague.
And with that, it is my immense pleasure to welcome you to The Hague 2025, the 101 International Session of the EYP.
On behalf of the Academic Board,
Sara Huseby, President of The Hague International Session 2025
